Wait, the bomb had a laser pointed at the cat’s head?
That’s not how bombs work.
It makes no sense in an otherwise believable, true-to-life story.
The red dot is more like a theme throughout the comic.
First the red glow of bombs lamp (“No, if it’s blinking it means you switched the blue and green cables!”)
Then the red laser dot of an aiming laser pointed at his comrade. (Which don’t get used by snipers but it does make for some cool optics.)
And lastly the red status lamp of the radio hes struggling to reach. (Trying to report the ambush, call in reinforces and two large number 50s and a diet coke.)

I was just being a smartass, as evidenced by the line “It makes no sense in an otherwise believable, true-to-life story”.
Notice that the cat with the laser for on his forehead is not the cat staring at the bomb. It’s easy to understand that this two parts show a bomb-man + the fact that there were snipers around.
